The Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood has been in the Wood River Valley for more than fifty years.  Our present location alongside the Big Wood River has been our church 'home' since the 1970's.  Our present facility was completed in 2004.

The Presbyterian Church (USA) is one of the so-called 'mainline' denominations.  We are one of more than eleven thousand congregations connected in life and in faith through the larger church.

What distinguishes us as Christians who are 'Presbyterians' is hidden in the origins of that word in the New Testament.  It refers primarily to our form of government.  Each congregation is led by a group of men and women-elders-which is what the word 'presbyterian' means.

Many people today are looking for an experience of authentic community and an expression of vital faith that has integrity and substance yet is open to honest inquiry and legitimate questions.  Our goal is to embody both.  Our life together is centered in our trust and belief in Jesus Christ.  Through him, we have come to know the living God.  Our beliefs are grounded in the revelation of God given to us in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.  We invite you to join us in this journey.
