Billie Brown, her husband Dick, her mother and four cats moved to Idaho from Mississippi in 1999, and shortly thereafter she began teaching at the Big Wood School. With a B.S. from Mississippi College and a Master’s in education from the University of Mississippi, plus 25 years experience teaching secondary and college-level math, in 2003 she was named the preschool’s director. In her spare time she plays violin and viola for various local productions and substitutes for the Idaho Falls Symphony and the Boise Philharmonic. She also sings in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church choir, the Caritas Chorale, and Anam Cara – all directed by her husband.

Billie discovered winter sports when she moved here and now loves to cross-country ski. She is learning to downhill ski and can already ride the Half-Dollar lift at Dollar Mountain; in the summer backroading is a favorite activity.
