Church of the Big Wood Family,
We had a wonderful re-opening of the church this past Sunday, and look forward to gathering again in the sanctuary for worship this coming Sunday, June 7 at 9:30 AM. In addition, for those of you unable to join us or whose risk factors make coming in person unwise, we are continuing to live-stream the service so you will be able to join us online through our website or directly at https://youtu.be/-n1KdxS1TWQ or on your smart TV through the Church of the Big Wood’s YouTube channel. This week I’ll be speaking about a parable I believe has much to say to us in the midst of the unrest in our nation, the parable of the Good Samaritan from Luke 10.
We will also be joining together to celebrate the Lord’s Supper! For those of you who feel comfortable partaking, we will have large tables with the elements spread out, and you will be invited to come forward (properly socially distanced) to partake by taking individually prepared elements. In addition, for those of you who would like to partake but who will be joining us virtually, we encourage you to do so “online” - instructions for how to do so are found here.
Once again, for those of you joining us live, here’s the health precautions we are taking. We know many of these things are inconvenient, uncomfortable and go against our natural instincts, but our current situation makes it important to embrace these (at least for awhile) as a way to live out Jesus’ call to “love our neighbors.”
Face coverings will be required (available at church if you need one), including during our singing, which studies point to as a higher risk activity for spreading the virus.
Temperature checks - no touch infrared thermometers will be used to check people’s temperatures when they enter the facility.
In order to help with social distancing of at least six feet, the pews in the sanctuary have been clearly marked with tape as to where to sit.
There will be no Sunday School and child care for at least a few weeks; families are encouraged to sit together as a group, and we will be providing activity bags for children.
In order to promote air circulation, will be having our doors open during service, so we encourage you to bring something warm in case the sanctuary is a bit chilly.
Unfortunately, coffee and donuts will not be served following the service. In addition, you are encouraged to greet each other outside, either on the patio area or in the parking lot.
We will not be passing plates for the offering. You are encouraged to give online through our website, or to drop a check in the offering plates on the tables at the back of each aisle.
Looking forward to seeing you both live in person and live online! And as always, if you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email (mark@pcbw.org) or call me (408-425-9694).
Peace,
Mark
